Intro to narrative theory

Linear and Non-linear
 - In both of them, the event and order of event create the story
 - In the linear narratives, the story starts from the beginning, continues to middle events and finishes
with the end. It also follows the timeline of the past, present and future.
 - In the non-linear narratives, the story does not always start at the beginning and can jump around
   the timeline of events.

Todorov Equalibrium
 - The story in the film follows a particular order of events: Equalibrium, Dis-Equalibrium and New
    Equilibrium

Barthes' Theory of Narrative
 - This theory teaches that texts need to be unravelled and because of this, several meanings can be
    introduced.
 - He also says that texts can either be open or closed

Open: The text can be unravelled and have several different meanings
Closed: The text only contains one meaning in the story

Bordwell and Thompson's theory
 - This theory states that a narrative consists of a chain of events in a cause-effect relationship

Reverse Chronology
 - This is a way of telling the story in reversed order. The conclusion of the plot is revealed at the beginning.

Levi Strauss' Binary Oppositions
 - This is a theory that states that you need opposites involved to create and build the story.
